Texas State Chapter of AKD

Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) is the international sociology honor society, which was founded in 1920. Its purpose is to promote scholarship in sociology, including among students. The chapter at Texas State (named Xi) was founded in 1972.

The annual AKD banquet is held in March and is a festive affair. The sociology faculty take this opportunity to celebrate the sociology majors that have excelled in our program. If you are a member, you won't want to miss this event.

Why join AKD?
  • All new AKD members receive the journal "Sociological Inquiry" for one year with no charge.
  • AKD members have the option of wearing honor cords at graduation.
  • Joining AKD gives students the opportunity to list the organization on their resumes, which tells prospective employers and graduate programs of your academic excellence.

Application forms can be found on-line or in Dr. Trepagnier's office (DERR- 203). Be sure to check the deadline, as it is very early each long semester.
