Crystalle and Pat Sutton- ACTIVE Life Outreach Coordinator

Over the course of  my applied sociology internship this summer, I was able to work as an event coordinator with Youth InterACTIVE. This was the best decision I could have made in regards to gaining real experience that I would be able to apply to my future career.  Youth InterACTIVE (Y.I.) is a non-profit organization whose main goal is to illustrate to children the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The concept behind Y.I.'s efforts is that once you get healthy, physically, you are able to improve other aspects of your life more easily. They focus on education and leading the children to becoming civically engaged and active. They are able to interact with kids through after school  programs and special events which were coordinated by me!
The former event coordinator was recently promoted to Director of Operations and Y.I. had not yet filled the events position. Thanks to this, I was able to gain the whole experience. I acted as the lead in every project. I was completely responsible for creating and executing each event this summer from the ground up! I managed our volunteer database and supervised our volunteers during events.  I maintained contact with our clients and demostrated my ability to actualize their visions. I was also responsible for reviewing applicants for instructor positions and directing them to the classes I felt they would best be suited for. I had my hand in nearly every aspect of development for Youth InterACTIVE.
If you want the entire experience I highly advise you to consider working for this team! You won't regret it!
