Highland Park Presbyterian Church

Hello! My name is Amanda Jeter and I am doing my internship with the youth group at Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas.  More specifically I am the 8th grade class lead for Stream Youth.  An 8th grade class lead teaches Sunday School, lead Bible studies, disciple students, and plan events for the grade.  I chose to do my internship here because I am passionate about life on life discipleship. 

I absolutely love working and serving here.  I work with amazing people who are encouraging and inspiring.  Everyday I am challenged to strive for excellence in every area of my life.  I am learning how to work with different personalities, how to lead more effectively, and how to do ministry more professionally. I am fully confident that I am a different person for working here. 

Through my internship experience I have applied sociological concepts I have learned from Dr. T's social theory class, specifically from the symbolic interactionism perspective.  I have noticed people constantly being aware of how they appear to others and what roles they want to play. This internship has given me a unique experience including a wealth of knowledge and memorable times with the kids.
