My name is Amanda Loredo and I am currently working with Qobe Group as the Assistant Special Projects Director. I have been working with Qobe Group for over a year and when face with the opportunity to find an internship pertinent to my major the company allowed me to try a new position as an intern.

Over the past several weeks I have worked on Special Projects designing research proposals and plans to measure the effectiveness of Qobe Group's community development work. Qobe Group keeps a fast-paced environment where I am offered the opportunity to work with a diverse staff and network with professionals across the country.

Qobe Group currently has three pending research projects, two of which I will serve as the Senior Researcher for. In addition to measuring Qobe's effectiveness within it's community development work, we are working with a private non-profit organization to measure the effects its programs have on the high school students they work with across the country. The third research project - also with the non-profit mentioned above - is to create a demographic make up and report card of all students attending programs throughout the summer for the Colleges and Universities that partner with the organization. This final research project will be able to provide quality information for colleges and universities during their outreach and recruitment efforts to increase their Hispanic/Latino/a populations.

My Special Project for my internship has been to create a Business Incubation program for college juniors and seniors to be able to create a professional portfolio while interning with Qobe Group. I have been creating job descriptions to fill with interns from the Texas State, University of Texas and St. Edward's University communities - as well as young professionals seeking to gain more extensive professional experience.

This internship has allowed me to become accustomed to working in a professional environment and gain experience working for non-profit organizations as a contracting consultant. I have been given the opportunity to travel with the company and have gained invaluable experiences working with multiple organizations, professionals and institutions of higher education across the country. I look forward to my work with community and professional development in the future and hope to grow with Qobe Group or a company that offers similar experiences.
