Internship Page

My name is Casey Anderson and I am an Applied Sociology student at Texas State University. Upon completion of a 300 hour internship, I will graduate with a BSAS in December 2009. I chose to complete my internship at an event services company in San Antonio called An Event to Remember. This company specializes in full-service catering, linen rental, floral design, and decor. Our clientele includes brides and families, as well as corporations, other vendors, and venues. An Event to Remember is a preferred vendor for many local San Antonio event venues.

Throughout my internship, I have been fortunate enough to gain experience in many different areas. I have been responsible for organizing client folders and information, contacting current and potential clients, helping with linen and rental inventory, assisting the floral designers with floral arrangements and corsages, decorating and maintaining the show room and design room, and completing miscellaneous tasks around the office. I have also been responsible for greeting clients on the phone and at the front desk, keeping track of appointments and notifying the account executives of upcoming events and meetings, and checking the inventory daily for upcoming rentals and deliveries.

Another major part of my internship includes setting up, breaking down, and working various events. This is my favorite part of going to my internship each week because it has given me a great sense of how the event industry in San Antonio works. I have been able to be involved in weddings, corporate events, and private residential events. I have helped deliver items to and decorate venues, as well as help with the break down and clean up necessary after the event. I have also assisted in the supervision of events, and in the serving and bartending aspects of these events.

My internship has been a wonderful experience so far, and I feel very privileged to have the opportunity to learn more about this potential career first-hand. This has been a great way to become more experienced and to get a foot in the door.
