ABOUT ME
My name is Cassandra Champlin, and for my Applied Sociology Internship
, I worked with Mother's Against Drunk Driving in Killeen, Texas. In 2005, I was hit by a drunk driver, and it completely changed my life. I switched my major to Applied Sociology and became determined to help other victims.

MY INTERNSHIP
Working with MADD has been an exciting and memorable experience for me. As a victim myself, I understand how important it is to have people who care about
you and who want to work hard for you. I am honored to have the opportunity to help people like myself. Working with MADD has given me important insights to the world of victim's advocacy and case management. While I was already familiar with speaking to groups and sharing information and statistics, I have now learned how to research information (in this case related to drunk driving crashes), request information from city departments, analyze reports, and enter data into an organizational mainframe. During this experience, I have been able to expand my organizational, networking, and time management skills. I have been introduced to new computer programs and have been able to master programs I was already familiar with. I have also had the opportunity to work with many types of people and increase my communication skills. Every day I am achieving my goal of "helping survivors survive," and I welcome the opportunity to experience new situations.
