Hello, my name is Jason
Irving. My internship this semester with the Antioch Christian Academy
was filled with plenty of wonderful experiences along with plenty of
challenges. I believe this intership introduced me to many wonderful
opportunities to further my experience. When I first showed up to work,
I was thrown head first into a challenging project. The school was in
the midst of implementing a new complex secrutiy access system. Not
even five minutes into my work day I was already working on
spreadsheets, typing instructional letters to parents, and assisting
parents with the choosing and input of their new security access codes.
My director, Miss Boswell, has introduced me to all aspects of school
administration. Not only did I sweep floors, I also worked as the
office secretary and even taught some lessons in the classroom. The
most rewarding and educational time was observing teachers different
teaching styles and watching the "light bulb click" as students gained
an understanding of a new concept. As a way to give back to the school,
my special project was to assist with the school
newsletter.
This
involved using my creativity and critical thinking skills to develop an
improved
newletter
that not only provided important information about
school activities to parents, but also showcased student work from the
classroom. I hope that the newsletter will continue to evolve after I
have completed my internship.
