My name is Tana Frnka and I am currently an intern at The Central Texas Orthopedic Products, Inc. for the sale of BIOMET orthopedic products to expand my knowledge of the outside sales world. Interning in this industry has always been a goal of mine because all my prior work history has been conducted in the sales industry. I am a very outgoing person that loves to meet new people and I am happy when I am able to set and surpass personal goals to continually better myself.
Working with and learning from the experienced medical device sales representatives of the Central Texas Orthopedic Products, Inc. has proved to be a very interesting and informative internship for me. I have used the quantitative research skills learned through the sociology program at Texas State in many useful ways. I worked with the central Texas team to research the products produced by Biomet and its competitors to fully comprehend the best ways to present our product as the best option in the field to future and current clients. Also the research of surgeons in our area that are not using Biomet products helps to determine what supplies that specific surgeon uses and how our company could improve their role as the patient advocate.
Completing tasks such as filing paperwork helped me to gain a more in-depth understanding of the products being sold and the thorough paperwork used for these sales. Being able to understand what each product is used for and the different types of surgeons that use them will help me with a future career in this field. As a medical sales representative one must be well learned in how to prospect, identify a customer’s needs, and create a sales presentation tailored to each customer.
This internship has taught me alot about the medical device sales field and has been a great help to prepare me for the future. I would reccomend that all future students should further their education in the field of their choice through an internship.
