About Me:
Hello, welcome to my webpage for
my internship at Environment Texas. I will be graduating from Texas
State in December 2007 with a Bachelors of Science in Applied Sociology
and minor in Anthropology. During this past semester I had the
opportunity to complete an internship of 300 hours at Environment Texas
in Austin, Texas. I was very excited to get to work in this field since
my plan is to get my Master's Degree in Environmental Sociology.
Getting to immerse myself in this work atmosphere was exciting because
I got to learn how organizations operate and about the scope of issues
organizations focus on. I also got to learn about some of the politics
involved in getting environmental legislation passed. In the process I
gained valuable skills such as public speaking, public outreach,
organization and planning, writing, and researching. My favorite part
of the experience was getting to go to different events around Texas to
network and get other organizations and groups to join us in different
campaigns such as overfishing in the Gulf Of Mexico and global warming.
