BASF Construction Chemicals
"We do not make a lot of the
things you buy.
We make a lot of the things you buy better."
With
international sales in the multibillions,
customers in more than 170 countries, over 150 production sites
worldwide, and
95,000 employees, BASF is the world’s
leading chemical company. The admixture
division of BASF was founded in Cleveland, Ohio
in 1909 as Master Builders. The
basic goal of BASF
Construction Chemicals is to remain a leading innovator in the
development,
manufacturing, and marketing of chemical admixtures for specialty
concrete. In order to do this the
organization must do everything within its power for the concrete
industry to
thrive. In addition to providing
products that improve various characteristics of concrete, BASF
contributes to
the concrete industry by working with concrete producers, material
suppliers,
equipment manufacturers, and industry associations in order to promote
concrete
as the preferred building material.
As a summer 2007 intern for BASF Admixtures in
Northern California,
I have been responsible for working closely with and fulfilling the
responsibilities of both dispenser service technicians and sales
representatives. The duties include performing dispenser repair,
maintenance, installation, product upsell, product mix optimization,
new product introduction, and maintaining relationships within assigned
existing accounts. This internship experience has been fast
paced,
interesting, and an excellent source of experience and knowledge
required for a future career within the industry.
