My name is Nick LaLone and for the Internship Program I chose to work
at a company I had already been employed at, DataSource.
Working here has been exciting in some ways, not so exciting in others.
Analyzing Data and using SPSS has been extremely informative! I have
been fortunate to discover a myriad of new ways to use the program that
I didn't think were possible. Using the knowledge gained from Dr. M's
class, I was able to accomplish a great many things. I was also able to
hold several focus groups and use a lot of the theory gained from
Social Psychology from Dr T's class and a lot of the content analysis
skills that all sociology students learn from the Qualitative methods
class. From the focus Groups, we were able to look at employee
attitudes and feelings. We wanted to try and make life easier and
DataSource more fun. I don't know what will come of it all but it
certainly has been exciting to gather this much data!
The unexciting part comes from interning where someone already works.
For me, this has been the most difficult task. Asking for Data that I
was not previously allowed to look at has generated more than a few
bureaucratic nightmares. I'd reccomend looking for an internship
elsewhere if you have a choice!
