finally reached the goal of our hike.
This summer I have had the incredible opportunity to serve as an intern
within the youth ministry at Crossroads. Not only have I had the
joy of spending time with students, but I have been given numerous
responsibilities that are training me to be an effective minister of
Christ's love. I have been a part of developing the summer
calendar, designing and implementing different events for students,
leading Bible studies for both Jr. High and High School guys,
counseling, encouraging, and praying with and for students, writing
devotionals for the Costa Rica missions team, providing leadership at
youth camp, speaking to large groups of students in Costa Rica and at
Crossroads, and leading a community service project. This summer
has been an incredible time of growing closer to God as I serve him
through this ministry.
I am performing an ongoing special project with Crossroads Student
Ministry in which I am studying the effects of The Woodlands' affluence
on "religious students" as opposed to "non-religious students."
The beginning phases are research in which I have talked to recently
graduated college students and adults about what it is like to grow up
in such a fantasy world where it seems that everyone gets anything they
want. The next steps involve thoughtfully designing a survey and
administering it to students withing CSM and hopefully students outside
the church, as well. This study will give me great experience and
benefit the CSM staff in a way that will help reach out to students in
the community more effectively.
Tamina
is a less fortunate community that borders The Woodlands, TX.
I
will have the opportunity to lead a group of about 10 students to
relocate this sign and clean up the property around it. We will
also do some landscaping at the base of the sign in attempts
to brighten this community even a little.

The following picture is me leading a student in Bible study in his
home.
I have learned that a vital part of ministry is done outside of the
church walls. So, I tried to get together
with this student throughout the summer in an effort to study the book
of Colossians together
and encourage him in his walk with Christ.
