Tina Villarreal
Internship Coordinator and Senior Lecturer

M.A. from Texas State University

Tina Villarreal received her Bachelor of Science in Applied Sociology and Master of Arts in Sociology from Texas State University in San Marcos.  She is a member of Alpha Kappa Delta and the National Honor Society.  Ms. Villarreal also holds a Mediation Certificate from the Texas State University Legal Studies Program.

Ms. Villarreal has always been interested in education and has held several positions within the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District as well as Texas State.  She quickly realized (after a brief hiatus from the educational field after graduating with a BSAS) that higher education was the place for her.  Ms. Villarreal worked as the assistant to the graduate director and the chair of the Sociology Department while obtaining her Master of Arts degree.

As a former intern as well as the former intern assistant Ms. Villarreal eagerly seized the opportunity to return to the Applied Sociology Internship Program as an Internship Coordinator.  Ms. Villarreal also teaches Introduction to Sociology.  She is thrilled at the chance to foster the growth of students from the beginning to the end of their student career in the Department of Sociology.  Ms. Villarreal has a passion for teaching students and more specifically for students to have the skills to further their success and accomplishments after graduation from the Internship program.

Ms. Villarreal is married with two kids and a funky mutt.  She enjoys home decorating and flipping flea market finds. Mostly she enjoys just hanging out with her family and friends whenever she has a little free time!
